Sometimes mistakes are a blessing in disguise, as one bettor found out when they accidentally applied a 25% odds boost to their home run parlay that ended up a $21,900 winner.
mistake that led to the odds jumping to +87,500
The DraftKings user originally intended to wager $25 on a four-pick parlay for odds of +70,000 in Wednesday’s American League Championship Series game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners. They posted a text message thread to social media talking about the mistake that led to the odds jumping to +87,500:
The bettor was rightly not at all confident about the bet, as a team hitting four home runs in a playoff game is uncommon enough, but picking four specific players to hit dingers should be, as the bettor said, “impossible.” The person didn’t even appear to know who they picked for one of the legs.
They likely won’t forget the name of Addison Barger (aka “Berger or something”) anytime soon, though, as he clinched the winning wager with a home run in the top of the 9th. The eight total taters between the two teams tied the MLB playoff record.
