New research reveals that Nevada is the second most expensive US state in which to own a car. The report from Bankrate shows that hidden costs like insurance, taxes, gas, and maintenance average about $8,300 per year.

The only state more expensive than casino gambling mecca Nevada is Florida, with total average annual costs at $8,483. At the opposite end of the list, New Hampshire is the cheapest state for car ownership. Average annual costs in the Granite State are just $4,472; Washington and Alaska are the next most affordable states.
