The Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees are hot favorites to clinch their wild-card playoff games and raise Circa Sports’ heart rate even higher ahead of the World Series in October.
The Las Vegas-based sportsbook is on the hook for two major parlay payouts should either team win the Series.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Circa started getting twitchy ever since the Oklahoma Thunder won the NBA title this summer. Two bettors had included the Thunder in part one of a two-leg futures parlay completed by the Series. While one bettor is swinging for the Dodgers to win the Series and the other the Yankees, if either team wins, Circa loses.
“We would lose a pretty big chunk to either the Yankees or the Dodgers,” Circa Sportsbook Director Chris Bennett stated.
Bennett didn’t divulge the exact amount but said:
It’s well into six figures.”
The Dodgers and Yankees are favorites to win their wild card playoff games in their best-of-3 wild-card playoff series, which start Tuesday.
For the Series winner, Circa has the Dodgers as +425 favorites, followed by the Seattle Mariners at +450, Philadelphia Phillies on +550, Toronto Blue Jays and the Milwaukee Brewers on +700, and the Yankees on +800.
