The suspects threatened to kill the pair if their families did not cover their debts. Police became aware of the matter after a friend of one of the victims was seen being forced into a car at the casino. Dozens of officers then raided an apartment, which led to the arrest of five individuals. The suspects are now facing charges of unlawful detention.

Loan sharking is a big problem at casinos in Southeast Asia where organized crime groups prey on desperate gamblers who have run out of money.
