A jury in Nevada has found a Las Vegas 7-Eleven store clerk guilty of second-degree murder. Jurors on Tuesday returned the guilty verdict on Rainier Jefferson, 37, for gunning down an alleged shoplifter in 2023.
altercation began over a salad
According to court records, the altercation began over a salad that the deceased, Mallery Armijo, allegedly attempted to shoplift. Jefferson claimed he was outnumbered by armed individuals in Armijo’s group and racially abused.
Jefferson followed the group out of the 7-Eleven near Sahara Avenue and Joe W Brown Drive and shot Armijo twice in the back, with both bullets hitting her spinal cord.
According to the LV-RJ, investigators found a gun on the 7-Eleven roof that had Jefferson’s DNA on it and used the same caliber bullets as those shot at Armijo.
The clerk’s sentencing for second-degree murder is scheduled for October 30.
