A UK bettor has seen their pieces of silver turned to gold after a £1.56 ($2.12) bet earned them £14,000 ($18,985).

The unnamed bettor placed an online bet on an eight-horse parlay and, according to reports, picked “seven winners in a row.”

showed amazing shrewdness”

According to Paddy Power, the sportsbook that took the hit, the bettor “showed amazing shrewdness in so many ways.”

According to The Sun, the first seven horses won at odds between 8/11 and 4/1 at Haydock on Saturday. The bettor, however, still had one horse left to run at Ascot, with the chance to make a staggering £69,000 ($93,560) from their tiny stake.

Instead, in a move Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield called “pure genius,” the bettor cashed in his $2.12 stake early. The Ascot horse only finished third, which would have earned the bettor £4,885.98 ($6,624.17) less than what he pocketed.
