The $206m upgrade to M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas is months ahead of schedule, prompting owner Penn Entertainment to announce a Grand Opening on December 1.
double its previous room capacity
The upgrade to a second hotel tower will add 765 rooms, giving M Resort double its previous room capacity. The Penn-owned resort took to X Wednesday with images of the new tower, stating it was “excited” to announce the earlier-than-anticipated public opening in December:
According to a Penn news release, M Resort’s meeting space will also increase with a new 15,000 sq-ft ballroom, with the overall additions creating 120 new jobs at the Henderson hotel-casino.
Southern spice and rodeo
The valley’s southernmost resort also revealed a partnership with the group owned by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse to open a Meril restaurant in the new tower.
Meril is Lagasse’s popular signature restaurant in the Warehouse District of New Orleans, with the M Resort set to become the franchise’s second location.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the early opening of the tower also gives the Penn property the chance to attract guests visiting for the National Finals Rodeo, the Consumer Electronics Show, and New Year’s Eve.
M Resort is the NFL franchise’s official team hotel
The M tower expansion broke ground in December 2023, an event attended by Nevada councilors and featuring heavy Las Vegas Raiders branding as the M Resort is the NFL franchise’s official team hotel.
Penn Executive Vice President of Operations Todd George in the Grand Opening press release highlighted M Resort’s “highly successful” partnership with the Raiders. George said together with the Raiders connection and the upgrade, “M Resort is becoming the premier destination for visitors and convention attendees from across the country.”
President and CEO Jay Snowden meanwhile stated the upgrade offers business groups “much needed additional room capacity” while also addressing the “strong demand of the Henderson locals market.”
Penn on a roll
Snowden also used the M Resort announcement to get in a plug about “our recent grand opening of the new Hollywood Casino Joliet in Illinois.”
The new tower will be the second of four major Penn expansions, with Joilet being the first. Still to come is the opening of a land-based casino in Aurora, Illinois, and a new hotel in Columbus, Ohio.
