US sportsbook execs are seemingly as keen as fans and bettors for the return of football, with the former stating the 2025 NFL season opener between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles is attracting major betting action.
Caesars Digital Head of Football Joey Feazel said the September 4 game featuring defending Super Bowl champions in their home city “is lining up to be the biggest bet game of the opening week thus far.”

The football odds overseeing exec added: “The excitement of football returning really reignites bettors.”
This combination of pent-up demand, early-season optimism, and a national stage has also led ESPN Bet to declare Game 1 the most-bet opening week matchup by a “considerable margin.” According to ESPN, DraftKings Sportsbook exec Johnny Avello added a different angle, that when the NFL season starts “[bettors] do have money set aside.”
Feazel also stated that Caesars Sportsbook expects the betting action from Game 1 “to lead us in handle as we go through the season.”
As of Wednesday, the defending champs are, according to DraftKings, -410 favorites to beat the Cowboys.
