Brazil’s state investigative police force has arrested an online gambling influencer known as Karol Digital under suspicion of running an illegal R$217m ($39.5m) criminal scheme.
Reports from the Grupo Globo network on Tuesday revealed the Civil Police have charged Maria Karollyny Campos Ferreira with illegal gambling, money laundering, and criminal conspiracy. Bom Dias Brasil took to Instagram with images of Ferreira and footage of her luxury mansion:
After her arrest on August 22, police accused Ferreira of deceiving her 1.5 million followers by using her online channels to promote unregulated gambling sites by faking gambling wins.
Police Chief Wanderson Queiroz stated Ferreira’s followers “believed she was playing and winning, when in fact the supposed prizes were mostly payments” from unlicensed gambling firms.

Following the raid on Ferreira’s luxury property, “The Digital Mansion,” police seized seven supercars, including a McLaren Artura worth R$3.1m ($568,890). Along with seven properties under seizure orders is a farm with “248 cattle and thoroughbred horses” valued at R$8m ($1.46m).
