Elon Musk’s brainchild has just emerged from the ground in front of the iconic Wynn Resorts casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Musk’s The Boring Company is building a tunnel underneath Las Vegas, and its specialized tunnel-digging machine has broken through in front of the Encore Wynn Las Vegas. The company, which was founded as a subsidiary of SpaceX in 2017, shared images of the moment on X:
X owner Musk intends for the Las Vegas Loop to provide visitors and locals with a quicker way of traveling around the gambling hub. Five main stations are already in operation, including the Las Vegas Convention Center, Resorts World, and Encore Las Vegas. Next up, the loop will add Harry Reid International Airport at some point in 2026.
an overhyped “vanity project” from the South African billionaire
Tesla cars travel around the loop, with each requiring a driver and traveling at around 55km/h single file through the 12-foot wide passage. The reality of the tunnel has prompted many critics to deem it an overhyped “vanity project” from the South African billionaire.
Nevertheless, The Boring Company claims the loop has transported 4,500 people per hour during its peak time. It has supposedly cut the travel time for some journeys from a 45-minute trip down to just two minutes.
Las Vegas police recently had to protect Musk’s tunnels after anti-Donald Trump and Elon Musk protestors began attacking Tesla dealerships and cars nationwide. Musk, who also owns Tesla, was a major campaigner for Trump in his battle to secure his second presidency and headed up the Department of Government Efficiency before he left the government body earlier this year.
