The French authorities are investigating the death of Kick streamer Raphaël Graven on Sunday night in a town close to Nice. The 46-year-old had been broadcasting for ten days, with other people regularly humiliating him and torturing him for content.
colleagues shot at him with paint guns, chained him up, and hit him
Viewers grew concerned when he was seen lying lifelessly on a mattress. In previous streams, his colleagues shot at him with paint guns, chained him up, and hit him. The final stream was deleted and no results appear when you search his name on Kick.
Talking about the case, France Digital Technology Minister Clara Chappaz spoke about Graven being subjected to humiliation and abuse for months and that the intention is to hold “online platforms responsible for the dissemination of illegal content” to account.
Kick gave a statement to Sky News in which a spokesperson extended their condolences to Graven’s family and said that it is currently investigating the incident.
Graven, whose pseudonym was Jean Pormanove, had over one million followers across his social media accounts. He was in hot water in December when he and another streamer named Safine Hamadi were taken into custody by law enforcement for their violent content.
Kick partners Adin Ross and rapper Drake have said that they will cover the funeral costs.
