A Maryland worker can now thank his commute for a major lottery win. According to a Maryland Lottery news release on Monday, the unnamed man took inspiration from a license plate while stuck in traffic to strike it lucky.
The man from St. Mary’s County stated:
I noticed the tag on a truck, 19363.”
The Marylander described by the ML as a “casual player” used a combination of the plate number on a bunch of Pick 5 tickets for drawings on August 6 and 7. When the man saw the winning number pulled for the latter draw he thought it looked familiar. Then he checked the winning number against his ticket: “I was gasping for air,” the commuter stated. “I was so happy.”
Thanks to the license plate, the Maryland man pocketed $200,000 for his Pick 5 win. The ML will give the liquor store in Loveville where the Marylander purchased his winning ticket a $2,000 bonus.
As for the commuter, he plans to keep playing the lottery like he always has, looking out for number sequences and playing those that get his attention.
