Police in Malaysia are on the hunt for a suspect who broke into a room at the Genting Highlands casino and stole RM3m (US$708,549) worth of chips.

The case bears similarities to another in 2023 when two people got through an emergency exit door and stole RM4.6m (US$1.1m) in chips. Some, but not all, of the people involved in that particular case were subsequently arrested.

Law enforcement has identified local man Victor Lee as a suspect in this latest theft, and they want assistance in tracking down the 44-year-old.

The casino room was closed at the time of the incident, but police are still keeping specifics of the case closely under wraps. Anyone caught for the robbery will face between one and 14 years in prison if convicted, as well as a potential fine or whipping.
