Swarms of teenagers thronged the streets of Las Vegas recently, congregating at a mall where the juveniles attempted a takeover they reportedly livestreamed on Instagram.
‘juvenile takeover’ attempt that required Metro’s presence
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on Tuesday confirmed the ‘juvenile takeover’ attempt that required Metro’s presence at Meadows Mall.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal cited LVMPD Lieutenant Patricia Heldt, who said officers responded to the mall at around 5pm on Tuesday. Approximately 100 juveniles swarmed outside the mall and started “several fights.”
KSNV Las Vegas shared an image of an online flyer promoting the takeover of Round1 Bowling & Arcade, a Japan-owned franchise also offering karaoke and billiards. “Be here or hear ABT it. Keep yo BS at yo Mom house. Come fly and have fun,” the flyer read.
According to LVMPD, the streaming started around 5pm. A news clip shared by KSNV on YouTube revealed some of the takeover scenes, including a teen turning cartwheels on the street.
While Round1 heavily promotes itself on Instagram, the Osaka-headquartered brand made no mention on the platform of the attempted takeover. According to a News 3 report however, Round1 released a statement that it was “doing everything” it could to “keep staff and guests safe” during the spring break. The firm also reiterated its policy “guests must be over 21.”
