Rio pauses promo

The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has called a time-out on its $500 free-play promotion after monster queues at the property’s rewards desk recently.

The Dreamscape-owned IRC announced that following an “incredible response” it would pause the free play aspect of its Rio Rewards Tier Matching from 11pm on Friday. 

Sports betting pro media personality Bill Krackomberger took to X with a video of scores of people queuing to sign up for the $500 play:

The tier match promotion involves getting those who hold reward memberships with other Vegas casinos to experience The Rio via the free play offer. 

Competitors targeted

Krackomberger outlined the basics of the promo to an X user asking if the $500 free play was, in fact, all for free. The TV figure confirmed this was the case, stating: “no additional cash needed.”

The ‘Krackman’ expanded on the promo’s mechanics, stating “Diamond and above from Caesars (many other casino upper level cards too) gets you the $500.”

In response to Krackomberger’s X post of the queues, the Rio stated the promo was a major success and that it welcomed “all these great new players.”

Krackomberger took to X with footage of the now quiet Rio Rewards Desk on Sunday night:

The ‘Krackman’ added he’d formed a group that told its members about the promo “many days before it was shut down.”
