American singer and television personality Kelly Clarkson launched her new Studio Sessions Las Vegas residency on July 11 after canceling the initial July 4 debut hours before the show because of illness and the need to protect her voice.
In a last-minute Instagram message posted hours before the planned July 4 concert, Clarkson said she had to cancel the show as the “prep and rehearsals had taken a toll on her vocal cords.”
We can‘t help our bodies sometimes if we get sick, and that happens.”
“I‘m so sorry if some of y‘all had last weekend‘s shows. I‘m so sorry. We can‘t help our bodies sometimes if we get sick, and that happens,”Clarkson told the fans.
Designed to recreate the atmosphere of a behind-the-scenes studio session, the show at Caesars Palace offers a stripped-down experience as Clarkson performs with her band in an intimate, low-production setting. She only changed a dress once for the encore, saying: “I’m a sweaty mother right now.”
The two-hour concert featured fan favorites, including Since U Been Gone, Sober, and Tight Rope. She also sang her latest single, Where Have You Been.
The Grammy Award-winner also revealed during the opening night that she sold some of the rights to her music
“I just sold my catalog, a percentage of it. It’s one of those things, and when I was doing that, it was so apparent to me that my catalog would not be my catalog without that man behind that piano. People have no idea,” Clarkson said, giving tribute to Jason Halbert, who’s been her music director since 2003, her days on American Idol.
Studio Sessions is Kelly Clarkson’s second Las Vegas residency, following her 2023 summer Chemistry residency at Planet Hollywood.
