It will not be a threepeat for the World Series of Poker Main Event this year. After two straight years of record-setting attendance, the Main Event’s numbers took a slight step back, with 9,735 entrants paying the $10,000 to play after the final late registration tally Monday night.

only the third to eclipse the 9,000-entrant mark

At the same time, though, the figure does make the 2025 WSOP Main Event the third largest of all time and only the third to eclipse the 9,000-entrant mark, behind the 2023 Main at 10,043 and the 2024 tourney at 10,112. Attendance wasn’t going to keep climbing forever.

That puts the prize pool at $90,535,500 with $10,000,000 up top. All nine players who make the final table will cash for at least $1m. The min-cash is $15,000; payouts go down to 1,461st place.

If we take out the 2020 and 2021 Main Events, which were clearly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic (the 2020 tournament was completely reworked to fit it in) this is the first year with a decrease in attendance since 2015, when there were 6,420 players in the Main Event.

There is still a long way to go in the Main Event. All Day 1 and 2 flights have been completed and it is on to Day 3 on Tuesday, the first day in which all remaining players are in a single, unified field. The tournament will continue every day through Sunday, July 13, at which point the final table will be determined. After a day off on July 14, the two-day final table will begin July 15.

Going into Day 3, 3,453 players remain, with Ukraine’s Oleksii Kravchuk holding the chip lead at 937,500 chips.
