English Premier League returnees Sunderland AFC have joined other EPL franchises in making hay while the sun shines by inking a club record gambling sponsorship with W88.
Sunderland won promotion to the EPL for the 2025-26 English soccer season which starts in August.

W88 has gained multiple branding rights for Newcastle United’s rivals until the EPL’s ban on gambling sponsorships comes into force in May 2026.
Sunderland took to X to announce the “club-record commercial deal:”
The Philippines-founded gambling firm also becomes Sunderland’s exclusive sports betting, online casino, and Asian betting partner.
The deal will give Sunderland a cash injection as it attempts to survive in the ultra-competitive EPL, with West Ham United last week also inking a one-season deal with a betting sponsor.
Sunderland’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ashley Peden, confirmed the partnership was the largest commercial deal in the franchise’s history, and the financial injection would help the Black Cats compete to stay in the EPL.
A W88 spokesperson meanwhile stated it was an honor to partner with a franchise that has “such a storied history throughout the last 150 years.”
