The unemployed recent college graduate whose $13 parlay would have netted him $270,762 if the Oilers had won the Stanley Cup managed to get a return by hedging his positions.
Despite watching the potential cash-out dropping from $123,614 at one point down to zero, Drew Hirschmann posted screenshots of betslips showing his bets on the Florida Panthers and Oklahoma City Thunder winning their respective series:
The total profit from these bets was $59,243, so the 24-year-old at least saw some return from his efforts. We didn’t see if he hedged for an Indiana Pacers victory in the NBA Finals, with the series going down to Game 7 before the Thunder came out on top Sunday 103–91.
Hirschmann already revealed that his father, who’s an actuary, helped finance the hedges for his $13 parlay.
