Thai police officers carried out a raid on a home after reports of illegal gambling – only to find they had crashed an innocent board game.

The incident, which has gone viral on TikTok, took place in the Saraburi province in central Thailand on Sunday, June 15. The video, captioned “Board game was the cause. Police acted very swiftly!” was posted by user @nnanthc shortly after the incident.

Shocked by the sudden raid, one player yelled: “You almost gave me a heart attack!” while the officers exclaimed: “What’s going on here? Oh, got it.”

The officers sheepishly departed, with the TikToker later explaining that she and her friends had simply decided to play a board game after enjoying a barbecue earlier in the evening.

The raid had apparently taken place after a neighbor reported that gambling was taking place at the property. Responding to the clip, other users also shared similar experiences of having the police maliciously called to their address on false reports of gambling.

Thailand has an almost total ban on all forms of gambling, although underground betting establishments are common in the country, with frequent raids occuring as police attempt to crack down on illegal parlors. Even the police themselves are not immune – earlier this year, a deputy chief was fired over his ties to a gambling operation.
