Titans clash on

Supremo of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White has lifted some concerns over the staging of the much-anticipated Las Vegas championship boxing showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

all set for September 13

UFC head White and Riyadh Season collaborator Turki Alalshikh revealed Tuesday that the event is all set for September 13.

The President of the Saudi Boxing Federation took to X to promote what he called the “Fight of the Century:”

Crawford will fight Canelo for his undisputed super middleweight championship belt in what’s widely considered sport’s biggest box-office event of the year.

That said, there are still question marks as to where the fight will take place.

On Allegiant’s shoulders

White has a lot riding on the clash of the super middleweight megastars, as he said the event marks “the first boxing fight I’m going to get to promote.”

“It’s literally a once-in-a-lifetime fight,” White stated in a news release, despite the venue itself still in question.

The fight was originally set for September 12 at Allegiant Stadium. Now that the showdown has moved to the next day, it clashes with the scheduled football game between UNLV and Idaho State.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, UNLV officials confirmed the football is still on for the 13th. The Nevada-wide daily, however, stated that there were signs Dana White and his fellow promoters “will attempt to work with UNLV to move the football game.”

Ultimately, it remains uncertain if the boxing match of the year will actually take place at Vegas’s premier sports venue.

White’s stadium fight

The uncertainty about Allegiant plays into a potential strategic surprise from the UFC head’s camp. White has long championed arenas over stadiums for the visceral atmosphere the former creates.

I am just not a fan of stadiums”

Despite White watching WrestleMania 41 from a seat in the Allegiant, the UFC boss stated: “Nothing will change my mind about a stadium show.” White added: “I am just not a fan of stadiums. I like arenas.”
