It’s official, Las Vegas will be hosting a Formula 1 race in 2026 after the 24-event schedule for next season was confirmed on Tuesday morning. It will be the fourth consecutive Grand Prix in the city; the 2025 renewal on November 22 is the last of the initial three-year deal. The only major change in the 2026 calendar is the addition of a race in Madrid, with Italy’s Imola losing out.
created problems for local businesses and people’s commutes
While F1 remains committed to the US market as it targets big-spending sponsors and fans – races are also taking place in Miami and Austin – previous renditions of the Las Vegas Grand Prix have drawn grievances from fans and locals. Major traffic disruptions during track and grandstands construction on the Strip and surrounding areas created problems for local businesses and people’s commutes.
Racing teams have expressed concerns over the late-night schedule, as last year’s event did not start until 10pm local time. Organizers have listened to these gripes and brought forward the 50-lap race by two hours this November.
High ticket prices also eventually came down last year in an attempt to fill out the stands, with the 306,000 attendance number getting close to the 315,000 total in the debut season.
