Lower visitor numbers to Las Vegas are having an impact on revenues, with Strip properties seeing a year-on-year decline for the third successive month. Gross gaming revenue was $647m in April, a 3% drop compared to April 2024. Statewide revenue was only down 0.5% for the same period.

The figures do show that handle was still up 2.3% for slot machine play, though revenue from those games fell 5.3%. Non-baccarat table games saw a similar trend, with sportsbooks and baccarat tables helping soften the decline.

visitor numbers to Las Vegas fell 5.1% for the month

Despite the massively popular WrestleMania taking place at Allegiant Stadium, visitor numbers to Las Vegas fell 5.1% for the month, and total air passengers at Harry Reid International Airport were 3.4% lower year-on-year.

Analysts point to several reasons for the decreasing interest levels, most notably consumer uncertainty, the high cost of living, and disruptive federal policies.

One bright spot was convention attendance, which continues to bounce back from the pandemic-related issues, rising 14% compared to April 2024. This boost was attributed by the rotation into Las Vegas of shows that took place elsewhere in 2024, such as the International Sign Expo, American Urological Association, and The Car Wash Show.
