Eric Thomas, formerly known as Gable Tostee, may have been acquitted of killing his tinder date in 2016, but the Australian claims he is still facing prejudice at The Star casinos.
Thomas was banned from The Star’s venues in 2022 following an alleged strangulation incident in his hotel room. Security staff found Thomas “over the top” of a woman who had her dress pulled up above her hips. He was supposedly fighting the female, who claimed that Thomas strangled her.
Police arrived on the scene and detained Thomas; however, they did not proceed with any action against him after reviewing the evidence.
he was treated differently to the woman in the room because he is a man
Thomas has now lodged a complaint over his sunsequent ban from The Star venues, claiming it is the result of prejudice over his sex. His complaint, lodged with the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, argues that he was treated differently to the woman in the room because he is a man.
It certainly isn’t the first time Thomas has had his fate in the hands of the law. The Star committee deciding on Thomas’ ban discovered that he was previously called Gable Tostee and involved in a high-profile murder case. His tinder date, Warriena Wright, fell to her death from his apartment balcony in 2014. Thomas was accused of throwing the New Zealand woman from his Gold Coast balcony but was acquitted of all charges.
The ban matter will go to court in Brisbane from November 17-18.
