One of the most prominent providers of white label gambling sites is exiting the UK market. TGP Europe operates over 25 platforms in the region, which have partnerships with English Premier League teams, including the Kaiyun, Fun88, and SBOTop.

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) warned the company that it would be subject to a £3.3m ($4.4m) fine and must make major improvements to its anti-money laundering systems and check the legitimacy of business partners if it wanted to continue. TGP Europe decided to surrender its license and cease operating in the UK.

A knock-on impact of this exit is that several high-profile soccer clubs now have relationships with unlicensed gambling operators. The UKGC contacted Burnley FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, Newcastle United FC, Fulham FC, and AFC Bournemouth to outline steps they can take to ensure UK-based fans can’t transact with these sites.

UKGC Head of Enforcement John Pierce said that it will sporadically conduct spot checks to ensure geoblocks remain in place, with club officers potentially facing prosecution if they’re deemed to be promoting unlicensed gambling sites that are open to UK consumers.

Pierce went on to say that he expects TGP Europe to provide clear information as to how UK customers can retrieve their funds.
