The NBA is investigating the Toronto Raptors’ Jontay Porter for a potential connection to suspicious betting. On Monday, ESPN reported that sportsbooks spotted irregularities for Porter-related prop bets before two games this year.

The first flag came on January 26 when the Raptors played the LA Clippers, a game in which the 24-year-old lasted only four minutes before allegedly suffering a recurrence of an eye injury. DraftKings revealed the following day that the biggest winner for prop bettors on the previous night’s action was the under on Porter scoring a three-pointer.

The other game was on March 20 against the Sacramento Kings when Porter left the game after three minutes as a result of an illness. Once again, prop bets on Porter unders were the biggest winners on DraftKings.

ESPN reported that at least one other sportsbook also noticed something unusual and that numerous online accounts tried to stake as much as $20,000 on Porter unders for the game in January. The typical betting limit for these types of wagers is usually no more than $2,000.

Porter missed the two most recent games for his team for unspecified personal reasons. His head coach Darko Rajaković learned about the NBA investigation shortly before the Raptors’ game on Monday night against the Brooklyn Nets.
