As rebels in Myanmar work to overthrow their country’s government that they deem dictatorial, they have taken aim at mafia-run online gambling and scamming centers along the way.
As reported by local media sources, Myanmar rebels in the north of the Asian country overran the Shan State town of Laukkaing on the border of China. They took down a number of casinos run by influential Chinese mafia members in the process, handing over captives to the authorities of their home nation.

The group laid siege to the city before it ultimately surrendered. According to a statement of the rebels, this formed part of their offensive launched last month “to eradicate telecommunications fraud, fraud dens and their protective umbrellas across the country, including the China-Myanmar border areas.”
Two of the offenders handed over to Chinese police include Ming Guoping and Ming Zhenzhen, two cogs of an infamous mafia family who secured full control over the local police. They ran a human trafficking operation to acquire new workers for their enterprise, even allowing armed guards to open fire on escapees.
