Police in Thailand, where online gambling is illegal, have arrested 14 people employed by ex-Newcastle United sponsor Fun88 in connection to the suspected female serial killer Sararat “Am” Rangsiwuthaporn.

Officers have also charged the 14 Fun88 workers for money laundering and organized gambling. The employees’ link to Rangsiwuthaporn — or ‘Am Cyanide” as Thai media call her — comes from her spending more than 78 million Bhat ($2.3m) in three years on the gambling site.

Am’s “is a historic case in Thailand,” stated Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, who added:

Even Jack the Ripper from the UK did not kill this many.”

Along with 75 charges, police accuse Am of killing at least 15 people by cyanide poisoning. She supposedly did so to steal their money and fund her gambling addiction. The 32-year-old was five months pregnant at the time of her arrest on April 25 after the suspicious death of her friend Siriporn Khanwong.

If found guilty, Am will rank among the top ten most prolific female serial killers in the world and face the death penalty.
