Wild rumors were doing the rounds on Tuesday morning in Las Vegas. On social media, police warned people to stay away from the area around Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip. With both police and SWAT on the scene, some visitors feared a possible shooting incident was taking place.

It actually turned out to be a stand-off between a man in a Caesars hotel room and police. The incident began when security guards at the property became aware that a man had brought a woman into a hotel room “by force” after an argument. The irate individual then broke the window in the high-rise tower room and threw furniture out of it over the course of an hour:

The unnamed man told police he was armed and would not open the hotel room. A SWAT team was ultimately able to enter the room, arrest the man, and secure the uninjured hostage. It is unclear if the suspect actually had a firearm or any other type of weapon when trying to stave off the authorities.
