giving his brand the confidence to expand across the region”
Cordish intends to redevelop the property into one of its Live! casino resort and entertainment destinations. The casino will become the first land-based casino in the Louisiana, as the casino riverboat is no longer required. In a news release, president of Cordish Gaming Group, Rob Norton, pointed to the “success of Texas Live!” as “giving his brand the confidence to expand across the region.”
The other party mentioned in the deal was Robinsonville, Mississippi casino entertainment company Foundation Gaming Group. The Louisiana Gaming Commission (LGC) approved the sale of Diamond Jacks to Foundation in December, as the firm was also on a southern expansion drive. Foundation, the owner and operator of WaterView Casino & Hotel in Vicksburg and the Fitz Casino & Hotel in Tunica, stated at the time it would renovate the property to the tune of $200m.
Fast forward to April and Foundation’s co-CEO Greg Guida’s commented that his firm was “thrilled” with the Cordish deal and is looking forward to bringing the new Live! project “to fruition.”
