Expanded presence in North Carolina

DraftKings announced a new partnership this week with NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, becoming the official DFS partner of the franchise. The deal will help the brand increase its presence in North Carolina.

The deal provides DraftKings with access to the team’s logos and trademarks. DraftKings will have LED signage courtside at the Spectrum Center, the Hornets’ home arena. The backboards will also feature the company’s logo.

Official DFS partner plans

As the team’s new DFS partner, DraftKings will work with the Hornets on promotions via social media. There are plans to create a new, free-to-play predictive game themed after the team, to be available on the Hornets’ mobile app.

During games, VIP experience events will take place, hosted by DraftKings. This will include courtside shootarounds, meet-and-greets with team staff and coaches, plus access to press conferences.

looks forward to providing Hornets fans with a “best-in-class gaming experience”

DraftKings chief business officer Ezra Kucharz commented on the deal, stating the brand looks forward to providing Hornets fans with a “best-in-class gaming experience.”

Fred Whitfield, the president and vice-chairman of Hornets Sports & Entertainment, commented as well, stating that collaboration with DraftKings will allow the team to provide fans with engaging new experiences from a leader in daily fantasy sports.

Nashville Predators DFS deal

The new Charlotte Hornets DFS deal comes just one month after DraftKings announced a new partnership with the NHL’s Nashville Predators. In December, DraftKings became the official DFS and sports betting provider of the team.

DraftKings branding can be seen throughout Bridgestone Arena, the home of the Predators. During home games, the Lexus Lounge LED screen also features DraftKings signage. Betting lines are provided via the operator on Predator radio broadcasts, both before and after games.

Digital and social media content will also be created as part of this partnership. DraftKings will offer giveaways on social media along with taking over the Predators’ homepage from time to time.

Drone Racing League

In a sports betting-specific deal, DraftKings has also teamed up with the Drone Racing League. The partnership is a first, as it allows fans to place bets on DRL races. Aerial sporting events have never offered wagering options.

Currently, betting on DRL races is legal in Tennessee, New Hampshire, West Virginia, New Jersey, and Colorado. Other states are pending approval from gaming regulators.
