The Detroit News has reported that Malik Beasley was evicted from his high-rise apartment in the city as he had not paid $21,500 in rent. The 28-year-old is currently under investigation for betting-related offenses, and it has been subsequently revealed that he has serious financial debts despite having career earnings of $59m.

The NBA free agent was the subject of two separate lawsuits from his landlord so far in 2025. When he didn’t respond, a judge rubber-stamped the eviction on Wednesday.

Despite thriving last season with the Detroit Pistons, the franchise stepped back from a planned three-year, $42m contract worth due to the FBI investigation. Sportsbook operators noticed suspicious wagering activity in Beasley’s prop betting markets in certain games starting in January 2024.

Beasley is still active on social media, posting on Wednesday that his game will be better next season and that he’ll be ready to go for whatever team comes knocking.
