Ottawa Man Shot and Killed at Neighborhood Poker Game

A 53-year-old man has been shot dead in a quiet neighborhood in Canada after a poker game went wrong.

Kevin Willington, an award-winning coach and prominent member of Ottawa’s badminton community, died at the scene.

Ottawa police responded to a call around 9:20pm Friday where they discovered Willington. Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs called it a tragic event, adding that they “believe that at the time of the shooting, there was a poker game” taking place.

Described as “very active” within the badminton community, Badminton Ontario said that Willington certified and mentored hundreds of coaches across the province and that he was “generous with his time.”

Very little information about the incident has been made available to the public. Ottawa police have said anyone with information should contact the Ottawa Police Homicide Unit.

No arrests have been made.
