✅ The Don’t Pass Bet

The Don’t Pass bet is essentially the opposite of the pass line bet. Since most of the table typically bets on the pass line, you may sometimes hear Don’t Pass bets called “wrong way” or “betting wrong,” but there’s no negative connotation to making this bet.

Almost everything for this bet works as the opposite of the pass line bet. If the come-out roll is a 2 or 3, you instantly win; if it is a 7 or 11, you lose right away. In the case of a 12, your bet will push, meaning you get your money back.

While that part of the bet is harder to win, you’ll have the advantage if a point is rolled. When that happens, you’re now betting on a 7 being rolled before the point – something that will happen the majority of the time.

✅ Taking/Laying the Odds

When a point is established and you’ve made a Pass Line or Don’t Pass bet, you’ll have the opportunity to either “take the odds” (for a Pass Line bet) or “lay the odds” (for the Don’t Pass wager).

When you take these bets, you get to bet on the exact, mathematical odds of the point being rolled before a seven, meaning there’s no house edge on this additional money. For instance, if you made a Pass Line bet and the point is a 4, you can “take the odds” at 2-1, as it is twice as likely for a 7 to be rolled as a 4.

If you’re “laying the odds” after a Don’t Pass bet, you’ll get 1-2 odds on that same 4 point, since you’ll win if the 7 comes before the point. Either way, these bets are great for players, as they are one of the few completely fair bets with no edge on either side in the casino.

✅ Other Craps Bets

There are dozens of other bets you’ll see on an online craps table, and they vary in how commonly players wager on them. These include the field bet, the hard way bets, the place bets, and the Come and Don’t Come bets, which are just like Pass and Don’t Pass, except they can be made on bets other than the come-out roll.

We’ve already pointed out that some bets are better than others at the online craps table. The worst bets of all might be Big 6 and Big 8. It’s not just that these wagers have a high house edge (though they do), but also that they are strictly outclassed by Place bets on 6 and 8, which are the exact same bet with a much better return-to-player. If the Big 6/8 spots are included on your craps table, stay far away.

✅ Analyze the Odds

Craps odds tend to be similar at all sites, but they may not be exactly the same everywhere. Take a close look at how much you can place on the odds behind your pass line bets, as well as some of the payouts on more exotic bets, such as the field or specific dice combinations. If the odds are worse than typically offered, you should stay away even if you normally enjoy those bets.
