The Betcris sportsbook operation, based in Costa Rica, is the second-ever international sports betting partner for the NFL, along with Australia’s Tabcorp. Through the new agreement, Betcris will be able to use the league’s logos and marks, as well as get exposure through its digital assets, such as the NFL Fantasy app and NFL.com. It will also be able to access the official data feed of the NFL.
Betcris will be acting as one of the official sponsors for the NFL International Series Games that is taking place next year in Mexico. No specific financial terms of the partnership have been disclosed.
Speaking about the NFL’s expansion into this new market was NFL director and executive vice president of strategy and growth Christopher Halpin. He said: “As our fan base continues to grow in Latin America, it was important that we partner with a trusted industry leader in the territory.”
Betcris chief executive JD Duarte said of the latest deal: “This represents the culmination of years of work to make Betcris a household name in Latin America. With this partnership, Betcris now enjoys a great competitive advantage that serves our long-term goals well.”
Other deals for Betcris
Betcris also became the first official sports betting partner in Latin America for the MLB in July. The details of the agreement are similar to the one struck with the NFL, with Betcris getting access to official MLB data as well as being able to use MLB marks.
The sports betting operator has been in business since 2006. It entered the US market for a short time before withdrawing in 2007.
As well as these deals with the two major sports leagues in North America, Betcris announced this week that it has signed a deal to become the official sponsor for the Mexico City-based soccer team Atlante FC. The operator is already a sponsor of the Mexican national soccer team.
