Weird Wicked & Wild Slot Machine
Rarely before have I reviewed a slot game with such an apt title, whilst many modern video slots are awash with amazing themed games which fail to deliver on gameplay, this new title from Aristocrat proves that even with a pretty weird, even tired game theme you can still deliver a wicked and wild experience by providing great gameplay.
What makes this 5x3 reel slot so exciting I hear you ask, well, it’s all in the free spins bonus, which is player selectable and combines with the massive volatility on this game to grant huge potential wins, you will suffer through the bland base game for hours just for a glimpse of the rewards on offer, the wicked random progressive jackpot doesn’t hurt either.
Theme
As stated, the game theme isn’t anything to write home about, despite being in one of Aristocrats latest game cabinets, the game designers appear to have taken a day off halfway through this game, leaving the teaboy to finish the artwork. I exaggerate slightly, it isn’t as awful as slots from a decade ago, and it’s perfectly bearable compared to some modern slots, but it is a far cry from the visuals on display on other Aristocrat games like the epic Game of Thrones official slot.
What you get is a game which is half a creepy style Halloween slot, and half traditional jingles and win sequences of a class fruit machine. When you add in the limited 3D animations and the fact that playing card symbols have been used for the low pay icons on the slot, it doesn’t look much from first glance, yet people are queuing to play the game, the answer to the big demand is in the high pay-out potential.
Gameplay and Features
The base game structure is pretty solid in of itself, with 40 paylines and a six dollar max bet, this game is well within the reach of most pockets whilst having a great enough betting range to entice the high rollers into some spins too, that becomes even more likely with the random progressive jackpot feature taken into account.
The ‘money bags’ jackpot can be won either in the base game or during the spins rounds, when a stacked reel of bags appears on reel 1, the feature opens up, you need to land at least three in a row to trigger the first random jackpot and you will need all five full to grant the grand prize, although this may sound just like other jackpot slots, it’s an overall smaller progressive and as such triggers much more frequently.
What you really want though is the free spins rounds which are named for the game's title, you being with 26, 20 or 13 spins granted for 5, 4 or 3 scatters on the reels, you can then pick to adjust the number based on three bonus features available for the spins round, with higher variance getting you less spins but greater rewards and vice versa, you can also re-trigger 5 spins at a time with further scatters.
The three features on offer in the spins round are Weird, Wicked and Wild Respectively, weird grants you multiplier bonuses which are increased from x1 to x10 every time your spins miss and reset every time you win, whilst the Wicked feature grants large numbers of stacked symbols and the top wild feature changes any stacked symbol fully wild.
Summary
On first glance WWW might not seem the most exciting game, but trust us, it very much is, if you want the highs and lows of a really thrilling slot game this is right up your street and you won’t even notice the lack of coherent theme. You can spice things up even further from a variance standpoint by using the game's gamble feature which is available on any single win of 10,000 credits or less, wild and wicked indeed!
