Two college kids were watching the Oklahoma City Thunder versus the Indiana Pacers clash on Monday night with bated breath. They had a lot of money on the line in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, and now the video of their epic win has gone viral on X with more than 700,000 views.
Legion Hoops, an NBA-focused news reporter, shared footage of the two college students celebrating after making their win through Polymarket:
According to a betting slip shared by the duo, they had $789 on both teams to score 1+ point in the first minute of play. The total payout was $30,000 and they secured it after the Thunder netted their first basket at around the 40 second mark followed by a basket from Indiana with just three seconds left in the minute.
The boys proceeded to go wild, running outside and rolling around on the floor. “I’ve just never bet like this before,” one of them said.
The Thunder’s odds to win the NBA Finals are now at a short -1800
The game ended 120-109 to the Thunder, meaning Oklahoma lead the Series three games to two. Game 6 will take place in Indiana on Friday, while Game 7 (if it gets that far) is set for Monday June 23. The Thunder’s odds to win the NBA Finals are now at a short -1800.
One other bettor is thanking his lucky stars the Thunder managed to seal the deal. Drew Hirschman has a parlay offering a payout of $270,000 which needs Oklahoma to win. He has just the Thunder and the Edmonton Oilers left in his +2082680 wager. He rejected a cashout of $123,614 after Game 1 of the Stanley Cup.
