Another three years

The PGA Tour and FanDuel have extended their existing partnership for another three years. The deal extension, announced Monday, will make FanDuel the official betting operator of the PGA Tour until 2024.

As well as continuing its current marketing and content partnership with the golf competition, FanDuel will now also contribute odds-based content available exclusively to fans on the PGA Tour’s main social media channels.

FanDuel can use PGA Tour marks in the US

As an official betting partner, FanDuel can use PGA Tour marks in the US and advertise through its various media offerings and partner platforms. The sportsbook operator will also benefit from video and content rights, allowing it to make pre-game and post-game betting content, as well as showcasing PGA Tour highlights to bettors through FanDuel social media accounts.

Excitement over the continuing collaboration

Commenting on the partnership extension, PGA Tour senior vice president media and gaming Norb Gambuzza said: “FanDuel is a market leader in the United States and we look forward to extending our relationship in the sports betting space for three more years.”

Gambuzza noted the “incredible growth” FanDuel has witnessed in its golf offering and the success of the operator’s partnership with American golf pro Jordan Spieth. The FanDuel exec believes integrating betting odds into the Tour’s social content helps contribute to storylines and provide up-to-date information to fans.

one of FanDuel’s most innovative and ground-breaking partnerships

FanDuel Group CMO Mike Raffensperger also expressed excitement in continuing the firm’s relationship with the PGA Tour, labeling it one of FanDuel’s most innovative and ground-breaking partnerships. He said: “We value the TOUR’s willingness to be a first mover in bringing new features like real-time highlights into our app which enhance the entertainment experience for the TOUR’s passionate fans.”

Embracing the sports betting world

The PGA Tour quickly embraced the burgeoning sports betting space when the activity became federally legal in May 2018. It has a number of other official betting partners on board, such as BetMGM, DraftKings, PointsBet, and theScore Bet. In December, BetMGM announced it was also extending its partnership for an additional three years through 2024.

A number of operators also sponsor PGA Tour events. In Arizona, DraftKings launched an online and retail sportsbook in the state after expanding its partnership with the PGA Tour, becoming the exclusive betting partner of the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.

The PGA Tour previously banned gambling companies from sponsoring events. However, that policy changed in February 2019.

Individual players have also partnered with betting and casino companies. In August, FanDuel signed a multi-year deal to become the exclusive sports betting and daily fantasy partner of three-time Major winner Jordan Spieth. DraftKings also has a high-profile partner on board in the form of American pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau.
