Gaming Software Innovation: 2018 Front-Runners

EGR Awards 2018

Gina Clarke takes a look at the seven nominees for the software-innovation category of this year’s EGR B2B Awards.

The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the Hurlingham Club, London, and one of the most anticipated award categories is the Innovation in Sports Betting Software. This year, seven leading companies have been nominated. With previous winners going on to become market leaders within the online gaming community, here is the first look at just who is up for the category. Interestingly, last year’s winner, Betgenius, is nominated again, but does it have a real chance in 2018? Take a look at my summary of each of this year’s nominees below:

BetConstruct

An award-winning developer with bases spread across 16 countries, the company provides a varied range of products and services including Sportsbook, Sports Data Solutions, RNG, and Live Dealer Casino amongst others. The company’s latest addition to their portfolio is SpringBME, the industry’s first all-in-one management structure. All the company’s partners can take advantage of the back-office tools that allow operators to grow and keep track of their outgoings. Fintech is a huge buzzword right now for operators, so anything that can make systems perform better under taxing currency fluctuations will be in demand.

Betgenius

Last year’s winner of the prestigious award, Betgenius is nominated again this year. The company was formed after its founders identified that players were growing frustrated by not being able to cash out in the final stages of fixtures. Betgenius created Cash Out State which allows full availability for each event’s natural lifetime as well as for live-event accumulators. Its product will enable bookkeepers in the sporting industry to have the edge over their competitors but keep track of their margins at the same time.

BtoBet

With over 20 years of experience in IT and software development, BtoBet is a multinational company operating in the finance, telecommunication, e-commerce, and banking sectors. The company uses the expertise it has gained across these industries to enable its products to stand out from the rest amongst iGaming service providers. It offers a standalone platform and services for gaming companies. Perhaps a somewhat safe bet, but glad to see that even the old dogs are willing to learn new tricks when it comes to innovation in the software market.

OpenBet (SG Interactive)

Financially, the most impressive of the group, the company’s sportsbook processed two billion bets at 2017’s Grand National. The digital subdivision of Scientific Games, which is operated by integrated content and technology teams from two leading companies, provides a unique suite of game content and production solutions. With bases across the globe, it can offer customer service around the clock. The company prides itself on providing products tailored to players’ needs and that allow its customers to maximize opportunities across the regulated market.

Singular

Unlike other nominees in the category, Singular is a marketing platform that enables its clients to manage their marking impact across various outlets. The key provision here is the detailed marketing data for its clients which allows them to assess their advertising strategies and make every penny count. It currently has seven offices operating globally to provide clients with access to a broad range of knowledge and services, but it’s the ability to track user data that really gives operators a chance of significant return on investment.

Sportdec

A company responsible for developing an app that allows fans to follow their favorite sport in one place. Launched in Beta mode for Euro 2016 and going fully live for the 2016–17 season, the app supposedly offers the best of sports in one place. The company is planning on focusing on key moments for fans, including live fixtures which allows it to monetize the app via punters betting on mobile and desktop. The team behind it also states that it is seeking to add a social element to betting offerings in the upcoming season. Could this shake up the way iGaming is usually played? Possibly – as by integrating it into an app that is not betting-specific – it can reach a wider audience.

Sporting Solutions

Data provider Sporting Solutions offers market-leading software solutions for B2B clients. It also provides trading tools for global sports betting but its trump card is a more comprehensive service that can be offered throughout the natural life cycle of a betting event. That’s why it is particularly well renowned for its in-game betting solutions. On the website, it says that the company “pride themselves on continuous investment in their products allowing their level of expertise to excel”. It’s also worth pointing out the good customer care and high levels of satisfaction that this London-based company boasts as understandably this can lead to better profit margins.
