Aquatic themes have been all the rage for a long time in entertainment circles, for those of us of a certain age who have happy memories of Sebastian the lobster crooning ‘under the sea’ in the Disney classic The Little Mermaid – to the modern animated blockbusters such as ‘Finding Nemo, there is plenty to choose from.
Relative industry newcomers Yggdrasil gaming from Poland have already made their mark with the big online casinos such as Mr Green Casino with a high quality game offering known for stunning graphics and multiple features with their most popular titles currently the fire breathing ‘Draglings’ slot and the mobile hit ‘Vikings Go Wild’.
Hot on the tails of these smash hits we preview their latest offering, a 5-reel, 3-row, 25 payline video slot which judging from the screenshots we have will feature all the bonus action they are known for in gaming so far with plentiful bonuses and great visuals.
As the game isn’t released yet (expected Feb 24th in most stockist casinos) we can’t comment on music or video elements, we can however, say that the initial screenshots look fantastically rendered. Yggdrasil have made the most of the watery setting to have the symbols suspended as if floating in water on the screen rather than pinned to a traditional reel. This makes the stunning undersea backdrop more visible and the icons more pronounced, giving the characters a more movie like feel on the screen and overall is a nice original touch on this new online slot.
Traditional playing card suit symbols have been used for low value icons, we assume at this point that the colourful aquatic creatures shown on the screenshots shown will form the games high value symbols and wilds. The golden fish of the games name is shown holding a free spins board with his fins so we think it is probably a safe bet to assume this grinning little fellow is the bonus round starter.
The bonus round image shows the tank floor, where a variety of objects await player choice for bonus wins ranging from ancient sunken amphora to a wide selection of creature shells. We are hoping that both the standard version of the game and the bonus round animate like the other aquatic title in the Yggdrasil range: Reef Run, it should also go without saying we are expecting the same smooth interface shown in the other games in the range.
Here is what we know so far about this game, which is due to be released in both mobile slot and desktop versions at the same time. It will feature 8 ‘normal’ symbols with different values, they will pay left to right across the paylines, 3 or more on a line triggering a win, all familiar so far.
Three or more of the Goldfish free spins icons and the action will flood the screen, the bonus round will engage, the tank bottom displays 18 objects for a player to select from. According to the official game preview these symbols will include extra free spins, multipliers, super stacked symbols and 3 different types of wilds:
We do know that the spins round doesn’t retrigger and the wild Symbols substitute for all other symbols except the free spins icon, making the round extremely valuable when you do initiate it, the rewards will be as follows:
One possible result of the feature picks is the ‘Golden Bet’, when this is active you get one additional pick in the free spins round. The other feature pick with provided information is the stacked symbols feature, when this is active only the primary selected character will count, other symbols even if stacked will be dismissed.
Nothing fishy here, it seems Yggdrasil are going to continue with the solid game offerings they have made so far, we really hope the reel characters are animated and that they get the soundtrack right, but even if not perfect the existing combination of features and visuals should have fans of their titles eagerly awaiting this release – so for that matter are we! No word yet on how the features may affect volatility but with an RTP of nearly 97% we expect this game to be granting good payouts and hours of playtime.
