Although it holds licenses to some of the largest entertainment properties in the world, Chicago based betting giant WMS Gaming still has the ability to create unique betting properties all on its own, providing players both at land and online casinos the chance to try out something completely unique and fun.
Centaur by WMS is an example of one of those games. It is a property that is based on Greek Mythology and features the beast Centaur, which has the top half of a human and the back half of a horse. The game is one of a large series of slots being released by WMS Gaming in 2014/2015, and include the titles Elton John, The Flintstones, Austin Powers, The Flintstones, Tour de Paris, and more. These games are all deeply immersive video slots that include touch screens and many wonderful bonus features.
Centaur itself is a 5 reel video slot that features 50 paylines that include symbols such as the Centaur himself, shields, lions, bows and arrows, griffins, instruments, and poker card symbols such as the 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. Feature wise the game includes Free Spins, Wild Symbols, Stacked Wilds, and more.
Those of you looking to view a preview of the game’s bonus feature can do so by checking out the YouTube video that WMS posted earlier this year. This title can be viewed below:
We have had some first hand experiences with this game at various trade shows, and found that the title is extremely volatile, providing several big hits alongside near misses and many smaller hits. The game’s large symbols located throughout the reels are quite useful and many times they ended up giving us large hits when we were otherwise looking at a loss on a spin. When you end up seeing the Centaur taking up all of the reels in multiple spots, it is a thing of beauty and a sure sign that you have just won a large amount of money.
Centaur also takes advantage of WMS Gaming’s new gaming cabinets, which house an absolutely spectacular touch screen that produces crisp high definition graphics and excellent responsiveness. We find these screens to be extremely accurate, and we have never had an issue with over or under betting on the machine. The cabinet is not getting the large treatment of the triple A games such as The Flintstones, or Elton John, which come complete with a sculpture and accompanying presentation, but still, things are still great here, and you will feel comfortable playing this game when you find it in a land casino.
Centaur was first teased by WMS back in the Spring of 2014, and the game is set for an initial release sometime in the Fall, being distributed first across a series of land casinos in North America. It is unknown whether the game will be distributed outside of the continent, but the odds of seeing it in Europe or Asia will be much better if the game seems to take off. With that being said, Centaur is a great looking video slot that was developed completely in-house by WMS, and we can’t wait to try it out for real money in a land casino near us.
