Super Hot Slot Machine

If you’re looking to unleash the fires of hell onto earth, look no further than playing Super Hot, a scorching vintage game that keeps it minimal.

We thought we’d seen the last of these flames when we took on the devil in Welcome to Hell 81 and won, but it seems that Wazdan just can’t get enough of getting burned. Heat is nice and everything, but we prefer to remain toasty the old fashioned way: wearing extra layers and switching on the heating. This game is so hot the polar icecaps are melting.

The 3 reels have 5 winlines, which actually surprised us as we were expecting a Vegas rendition so accurate it brought a horde of faceless gamblers along for the ride. But no, the brand has treated us to something a bit meatier in Super Hot.

Gothic Revival

No, we’re not talking about the Victorian Era you brainboxes, we’re talking about the graphics used on the reels; they’re macabre yet cheerful, a revival of the gothic aesthetic with a modern twist. It’s quite hard to look at because the flames look real and yet everything else is so obviously 3D and pixelated; it’s like a bad car crash, you want to look away but you just can’t.

Whether it’s deliberate or not (and we’re guessing not), the bad taste factor Super Hot brings actually works in its favour; it adds some much needed depth to an otherwise tired design format.

Card Suits

A lot of online slot machines have card values popping up all over the place, a lot of the time without the suits, but here the brand have chosen to use them. They’ve done so in such a way that it creates a wall of symbols, taking up one whole square of the grid at a time. The reason for this is so that the multiplier will begin playing, gifting out the joy that only a x2 win can give us.

It’s an extra that has been seen in a couple of their games before, but as it’s still widely unknown to many users, it’s an exciting bonus to experience for the first time.

Back in Action

These symbols can also appear separately in the normal paytable, giving out payouts as they appear in groups of three; three is the magic number for Wazdan, and so no wins will be had with anything less.

Out of the Hearts, Spade, Club, and Diamond, the Spade is the highest one, paying out €4 – as you can see, we use the term highest as loosely as possible. Thankfully, the payout obtained from the burning 7 is much more rewarding, coming in at 75 credits.

What makes us laugh most when playing this game is that Wazdan promises ‘big wins’, but they clearly don’t have the same idea as we do when we hear that phrase. Even though nobody is going to say no to 75 coins appearing in their wallets, they’d much rather get 200 or 300 instead, which is what a lot of other slot machines offer out there.

Set it on Fire

Customers who want to set the world, aka the reels, on fire will have to play with a stake of between 0.10 and 100 coins. This range won’t shock anyone who's been around online slots for many years, and have played with Wazdan many more. They’re masters at keeping everything ‘just so’, very rarely offering change.

Should you like to live dangerously, you can gamble your winnings away or double them up and take them home. You can also live life closer to the edge and take your hands off of the controls with the autospins widget; not nearly as dangerous as taking them off the steering wheel, you can sit back and watch instead of tediously tapping away.

Super Hot or Not?

We know we sound like some shallow dating app, asking you if someone is hot or not, but we can’t help it, Wazdan has kind of left us with nowhere else to go with these puns. We’re ashamed of ourselves.

Back to reality and the game for a second; Super Hot isn’t as hot as we’d anticipated, and it certainly won’t be getting anybody sweaty anytime soon. It has no drive and no excitement, and as for the reviews that say it’s got some great graphics, they’re lying to prospective customers. The graphics here are dated and have been seen a dozen times from the brand and many others.

This is a game that doesn’t do Wazdan any justice whatsoever, and so we won’t be playing it again.
