Three Card Prime

There’s something intoxicating and suspenseful about poker. It’s been captured in memorable scenes in the films Casino Royale, Cool Hand Luke, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and The Cincinnati Kid. It’s fun to play and fun to watch too. Would you have the nerve to bluff? The patience to slow play? The instinct to know when you have a stronger hand?

Free Three Card Prime makes things are a little bit different. This isn’t Texas Hold ‘em, Omagh or 5 Card-Stud and you will most likely need to read the instructions before playing. But this table game certainly is unique and you will be curious to try it out. Bring on the green table and poker chips!

No Rush Here

There’s no loading page or introductory video in the online Three Card Prime. There’s no slot game so there are no reels, payline numbers or striking imagery. We all know how a poker table looks, and Three Card Prime isn’t trying to be too clever. The screen is dominated by green, but there’s still plenty going on. On the top left is the game’s name, under the slogan Feel the Rush!

Next to it, in the middle, are the poker chips in their container. In the centre of the screen is the Prime in green capital letters as though indented on the table, as well as different spaces for betting terms where the chips later go. On the bottom left are 5 poker chips lined up in increasing value of 1, 5, 25, 100 and 500. On the bottom right are two sides of the same card. The design of the Three Card Prime playing card on one and in small writing instructions to play on the other one gives the feeling you are in their casino. And with no music or smiling dealer, this means business.

Prime Time Action

While the Three Card Poker game is growing in popularity, those unfamiliar with how to play will need to check the rules. Though there are some games you can pick up just by playing, this isn’t one of them. Both a player and the dealer get dealt 3 cards. There are different ways to win. If your 3 cards include a pair or even 3 of a kind you win under Pair Bonus. If your cards are all red or all black you win 3 to 1 odds under Prime Wager. If theirs are 3 cards of the same colour too, this increases to 4 to 1 odds. In the Ante Wager, you’re dealt 4 cards, 3 are used to beat the dealer’s hand. If your cards make up a straight but you still lose, you win the Bad Beat bonus.

The table limits are listed, with the ante between 5 and 500 and side bets between 1 and 25. However, though there are buttons either side of the Clear and Deal buttons you can’t increase your bet. After pressing Deal, you can either Play or Fold. If Play, you see the cards of the dealer. It won’t tell you how you’ve won or lost, but does tell you how much many chips you’ve gained or given away. In the paytable it gives the detail of what qualifies as prime, Pair Bonus and Loose Deuce. The game isn’t mobile-optimised.

Poker Faces in Poker Places

It is interesting to compare this game to other poker games out there. High Speed Poker by Microgaming offers you the chance to play for free or play for real money. The minimum bet is 1 and the maximum bet is 200. Unlike Three Card Prime, the graphics are 3D and there is jazz music and background chatter. The impression is that this is a high roller establishment. Another big difference is the fact you are playing against 4 different people. In fact, you can play as 5 different players. You decide whether to hold, fold or raise for each. There are plenty of automatic settings you can choose. It’s all well explained.

In The Great Western Pokermotive, the tone and style are completely different. Rather than a fancy gentleman’s club, this has a Wild West feel. The graphics may not be flash, but there is a lot in terms of gameplay. It has 5 reels, an RTP of 95.99% and a max pay out of 240 credits. There’s no Wildcard symbol, but there is a Scatter, Free Spins, a Bonus Game and fittingly, a Gamble Feature. There’s also 243 ways to win. A nice touch is that the card symbols such as Ace and King have human figures within them and look like a playing card. There’s no download needed on either game.

Three Card Prime Conclusion

With the ever-increasing popularity of three card poker, those who are already playing it will be interested in seeing what this game offers. Those who aren’t familiar with it will want to know why it is expanding. Especially as there are other long-standing forms of poker out there. In the free Three Card Prime the concept is initially tricky and may not be as flexible on betting as other games, but it still has some big selling points.

It gives players the chance to try out the game at their own pace while learning the ranking and worth. There’s a solid design and the fun Three Card Prime hasn’t tried anything too extravagant. It’s clear when you’ve won and when you haven’t and you will become more strategic.
