Hells Bars Slot Machine

There are all kinds of bars. The local ‘dive’ bar, hotel bar, sports bar, restaurant bar, live music bar and even the nostalgic-themed kind. But what if there was a type centred around hell. One that was aimed at the dark side and that revelled in our wilder nature. A place that brought out and rewarded the devil in us.

Free Hells Bars slot by SYNOT Games goes for that same imagery and has more than a few tempting incentives. There’s a Wild symbol, a profitable Mystery Symbol and a limitless Risk Bonus Game in this low-medium variance game. Not to mention striking 3D graphics and a 500,000 maximum credit prize. Desperate to find out more? Hell, yeah!

Devilishly Striking Imagery

The loading page may be fleeting, but it does strike an impression. The name of the game is in burning letters, with flames and smoke all over the screen. The devil’s horns are also seen, with a dark grey background. No angels or halos here. The main screen isn’t as dark as you might think. One of the reasons for this is the brightness of the regular symbols. The plum, orange, cherries and lemon really do shine. With a dark and bright contrast, it works well. But don’t worry. Hell is more than well represented too.

Smoke from the heat is there, the name of the game is in red hot and charred letters at the top of the page and the 3 reels are separated by four burning Xs. It’s also a neat touch that the Xs all release flames at different times. The music though pleasant, isn’t as evocative though. More impressive is the paytable. Each of the 8 symbols shake in alternating order. The game’s title, complete with devil horns, is in the centre of the screen and also gets in on the action.

The Mystery Among the Prizes

There are 27 paylines (known as criss cross) which can’t be changed. There is plenty of flexibility on the betting amount though. It begins at 0.50, going up to 1.0, 1.50 and 2.0, before going up in quantities of 2.0 to the maximum of 20. When you change the amount, the paytable value changes too. It means it’s really easy for the adventurous player to see how they’ll be rewarded, especially noticeable for the maximum of 600 for the 7 symbol. There’s an autoplay option too, though it is only start and stop. Other extras include the removal of background and playing sounds, game history and keyboard shortcuts. You can find the rules on a very subtle lighter grey panel on the left and the paytable on the right panel.

The wild symbol is the logo of the game, the game’s name with horns. On maximum, it is worth 10,000 credits. There isn’t a scatter symbol, but there is a mystery symbol (2 green dice) that offers random prizes if you get 3 of a kind. These go up to x500 and a maximum prize of 10,000. There is also an extra way to get an increased win.

Any winning line gives you a profitable and stylish option. The background goes dark and you see two devils. One is red and the other is white. If you’re interested, you have to guess whether the card will be red or black. Get it right and you double your win. You keep going until you guess incorrectly. And keeping to the visual flair are the unturned cards, with a red background and black silhouette.

Other Forms of Hell

There are various different examples of hell, so it’s useful to look at how Hells Bars compares to other online slots. Hellboy is inspired by the half-human half-devil cult comic book character and shows real artistic flair. Not only are Hellboy and his cohorts well depicted, but the overall imagery too. You can choose between 1 and 20 lines and play for coins 1-10. The Bet Value is also flexible, ranging from 0.01 to 1.0 with the bet max being 200 credits. Bonuses include a profitable scatter symbol, the chance to double or quadruple your win through gamble feature, 10 free spins and an Underworld Bonus of up to 4 levels.

Scattered to Hell doesn’t hold back. The creatures here aren’t the kind that will want to give you a handshake. It also decides to do things differently by not having any wilds, scatters, multipliers or bonus feature. However, there are free spins, which you get if you spin 5 times in a row without success. There’s no fixed amount, but the extra spins stop when you get your first prize. The other main difference is that there are no paylines but a system where you’re trying to match 5 or more of the same symbol out of the 12 within each spin. There’s no download needed on either game and you can play for free.

Devilishly Good Fun

The devil really is in the (plenty of) detail the Hells Bars video slot has. Visually it’s great to look at. The idea of having a full screen really helps, as do the bright symbols. The flames coming off the Xs is a great touch. The music before you start doesn’t evoke hell, but does have a nice ominous feel and the playing sounds are subtle. There are plenty of great details. Being able to use shorthand for the different functions is great.

The rules are easily explained, the bonus feature is as stylish as you could ever hope for and the paytable is spacious and helpful. Indeed, the fact the betting button is directly available on the paytable is an astute extra. There might not be any free spins or multipliers but the value is superb. For the maximum of 20 credits, you really can win big. If this is the welcome to hell, it’s definitely worth a drink.
