Space Arcade Slot Machine

Less is more, simplicity is key, minimalism is the future – all these comments and sayings have been bandied about for many years now, but still a lot of us look for the busiest and most fancy looking of games when we’re in the mood.

That’s all well and good, but sometimes we’re that overwhelmed that we don’t know what we’re doing, or we find that actually all it has is a good set of graphics and rubbish gameplay. Equally we’ll try basic slot machines and conclude that they’re too plain and lack the specific level of entertainment we’re in need of. Thankfully we’ve found a classic 3-reels slot that looks good and has a decent set of prizes, all without going overboard, the true definition of a happy medium.

Space Arcade is brought to users by SkillonNet, and is available for both demo and real money play at many different online casinos. Its 5 paylines and Space Invaders theme make it a great little retro package that we can’t get enough of, nor our bank accounts.

How to Play

Customers will feel like they’ve got a real life arcade machine inside their homes once this title finishes loading, which is relatively quickly we’d like to add. That’s because it looks so authentic with its flashing widgets, black and chrome handle, and pub like background that we can’t help but think and feel anything other than nostalgia. Oh, the memories we’ve got from playing machines like this…

Although not quite the Space Invaders, this is styled very similar to it, which you’ll notice in the icons used across the 3x3 grid towards the bottom of the screen, with the top acting as a paytable so that you can see clearly what everything adds up to.

The activate paylines, which can be reduced, are labelled next to the reels meaning you know exactly where they fall. What is more, a convenient digital window is located to the side that tells you your total bet, the amount each credit placed is worth and whether you’re a winner; as classic as classic can be, yet strangely modern. We like it.

There are six clearly marked sections on the panel, with buttons for your lines, bets and whether you’d like to autoplay or not. Betting starts from 0.02 and can increase to 20 credits, which is a great range to work with, then you have to decide how many coins you would like to place, 1, 2 or 3; if you have a bet of 0.10 across all 5 lines you’ll be playing with a total of 1.50. Nobody can say no to cheap and cheerful, especially when it looks this good.

The Space Age

Tiny pixels in vivid colours sounds like the makings are something great - that was how The Legend of Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog came into this world, so anything doing the same is okay in our books.

Depending on the amount of coins you’ve played with, the payout you receive when you match either two or three of the symbols will vary slightly. Take the red triangular looking space creatures, if you get three of those and you bet 1 coin, you’ll get 100 back, yet if you bet with 3 coins you’ll get 300.

The spaceships are the symbols you’ll want to find out of all the others though, for they are essentially the scatter of the game and will reward you some thrilling free games when you bag yourself two of them at any one time. These bonus spins have multipliers at work, meaning you stand to gain quite a bit of cash.

You Got Space to Love Another Game?

What can we say that hasn’t been said or touched upon already? Space Arcade is a sweet gig that SkillonNet has got going on, and one that will resonate with a lot of gamers due to the retro vibes it’s putting out there.

The older generation will like it as they remember the original game on which this is based, and youngsters will enjoy it because retro is in and every gamer has a secret love for all things arcade. Not to mention the payouts are very good when you take into account the size of the game and how low your stake can be (of course it can be worth a lot more than just a couple of credits).
