Millionaire Genie Slots

They’ve been in countless jokes and there’s no forgetting the memorable role in Aladdin, but genies haven’t been seen much in slot games. Has SkillonNet struck gold with this game or wishing it hadn’t bothered?

GENIEous Touches

Genies are supposed to be bored in cramped conditions, desperate for freedom. Not here. This looks a great place to stay. It’s brightly coloured, spacious and well designed. The fact the game is in the old style of a one-armed bandit is utilised to the maximum here. The top half has the scoreboard for the 3 lines which flashes up line by line. It’s all clear and easy to see. On the left hand side the name is written in a stylish font which lights up 5 times in a row. Just above it, there is a lamp. On the right hand side is the mysterious looking genie himself.

While the top half is yellow, the bottom half is more of a lighter orange, meaning that it blends well with above. You can see the 3 reels and 3 paylines. You’ll also notice the Coin Value, Lines, Total Bet and Winner Paid.

The music fits in well. The sound has a relaxing eastern vibe, with gentle sitars and flutes. If you get easily tired you can adjust the volume or mute it easily enough on the control.

You can play 1, 2 or 3 lines and betting goes from 0.10 to 10. It’s super easy to change. If you’re feeling flush you can go straight for Bet Max. If you fancy a long breather you can let the genie work for you and use Auto Roll which has a 1,000 spin maximum.

You need to look carefully at the lines payout as having more than one coin does not necessarily mean a bigger win. If you get 3 treasure chests or swords it is worth 50 credits for whatever number you are using. The same logic applies if you strike lucky with 2 treasure chests or swords, for 20, or 1 treasure chest or sword for 5 credits.

Going onto the right hand side of the table is where the bigger credits are, as well as some very other cool icons. The magic lamps are worth 500 credits, the pink gemstone 200 and the magic carpet 100 if you get 3 of them. But your eye will be drawn to the genie symbol. Even if you are only playing on 1 line, its payout at 1,000 is double the previous best. And if you’re playing on 2 its double that on 2,000. If you get 3 though, you are in jackpot territory, with a progressive prize of up to 20,000.

Newer Levels of Magic

It has significantly improved on its previous edition. Most noticeable of all is the difference in the genie. Gone is the cheesy grin of the original blue genie. He’s been replaced with a sleeker, more modern take. The distracting Christmas style lights have gone too. The introduction is attractive. A short screensaver style background gives you the feel of the game before you even start. It’s golden, shiny and flashy although still being classy.

While the previous edition was also spacious, this is better designed and with a nicer use of colour. Rather than try and put background pictures, there is more focus on a seamless colour and creating a spacious feel. The symbols are also better. Rather than the more cartoon style pictures, this has a more realistic feel. The fact that the symbols are the same shows how well chosen they were in the first place. The buttons feel less clunky and more fitting with the background.

However, it does need to improve on its gameplay. Unlike in the original, here there are no Wildcards, Scatters, multipliers or free spins available. It could do with a storyline of some kind and it is easy to tire of the game quickly. It would not be difficult to add something. After all, there aren’t any of the time poor visuals, lousy sound and an unoriginal idea that may drive people away.

A Visual Treat

This game really does feel like the classic style over substance. Visually it’s a treat and makes full use of its imaginative and exotic setting. Playing it though, there’s no extra gear for it to go into. You’ll be asking for more than your 3 wishes soon enough.
