Reelin' & Rockin' Slot

If anybody knows about 1950s cool, it’s Chuck Berry. The music legend lit up the decade and beyond so using a title the same as one of his songs has got to be a good sign. So is this Saucify game a Berry good idea or does it Chuck it all away?

Dinner Delight

What you’ll notice first is just how much effort has gone into getting the 50s experience in the design. There are the booths with the pink cushion feel, there are milkshakes and ice creams, handwritten menu on the board, the round bar seats (attached to the floor) in front of the long shiny counter and long horizontal windows. And as diners don’t fit with rainy days, its sunny outside with trees and buildings in the distance.

At the top of the reels is the name of the game in funky white lettering with the payline numbers on either side of the reels. The overall game layout is neatly framed by a jukebox design, which has bars of changing colours, vinyls ready to play and silver buttons at the bottom.

The retro feel continues with the icons themselves. There are two types. One are the realistic pictures of the shades, milkshake and sundae, white long sleeved jacket, Chevy and (non-Zuko) Danny. The others are the 6 playing card themed ones, which go from Ace to 09. It’s nice that the background images are reflected in the icons, and that even the more traditional symbols have an unusual look. Having them as the same colour as the background but with a different shade is a neat touch.

Jivin’ to the Max

There are only 9 lines in this game, though it is easy to choose whether to play any number between 1 and 9. With the coin credits there isn’t such a big option either, as you can only play between 1 and 5, worth between 0.01 and 0.25 credits each. The rest of the game offers more though. You can play at Bet Max which immediately makes you play as 11.25. The Auto Spin option is one of the best features as you can easily spin for 10, 25, 50 or 100, or go up or down to any specific number between them if you want.

The sounds of change and background chatter are great, with the noises for the game using nice guitar chords, though when spinning they start again and the few chords get repetitive very soon. There’s no mute button on the game. The visuals when playing are far more rewarding. The Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 and 09 light up wonderfully when winning, and the other symbols shake about which works well.

Greased hair Danny boy is the most valuable regular symbol with a best value of 750 if you get 5 of him in one spin. The 57 Chevy is worth almost identical, but there is 1 credit less if you get 2 of them. The jacket, shades and then milkshake and ice cream are next, with the letter symbols following. The 9 paylines are shown in diagram form too.

Rockin’ Extras

Where would Danny be without Sandy, or in this case, Ruthie? She doubles up as both Free Spins and a Scatter symbol. If you get 3 or more of her you get 15 Free Spins and up to 500 credits. During these extra spins wins are trebled at the rate you were betting at before the bonus was activated. The Scatters are paid in addition to regular wins. You can also get more Free Spins within these spins.

The Wildcard is a jukebox that doubles any score if you have a winning line that uses it. It substitutes for anything except the Scatter or Free Spin symbols. It also gives you the opportunity to win 10,000 credits if you get 5. Even getting 4 of them is comfortably better than getting 5 Dannys.

After every win you can gamble for a chance to double or quadruple your credits by pressing the Gamble button that lights up when available. It takes you to a table with six options for you to choose from. If you guess the colour or suit of the winning card you’ll win one of the rewards. Guess wrong and you lose it all.

We’re Feelin’ Reelin’

This retro game is a delight. It’s fun and easy to play, with great visuals, bonuses and great prizes. This game is definitely worth a try. Or should that be a shake.
