The Eagle Is the Key

You haven’t read that wrong, and no this isn’t some passcode for a secret society despite it sounding like one, the eagle really is the key to winning big in MegaWins. There are a whole host of traditional symbols that will appear on the 3-reel, 5-payline grid, ranging from cherries, multiple 7s and BAR tiles, and then the eagle as the crowning icon.

The 7s and BARs are by far the most intriguing along your paylines, although not necessarily the most rewarding. This is because you don’t have to match them properly to secure a win. Each of the icons come in a mix of colours – in some titles you would be expected to match every element of a symbol, however that isn’t the case here. You can get a reward, albeit a low one, simply by matching three different 7 and BARs, though the real money is in perfectly matching them every time.

As for the overall look of the reels they are dated and muted, although it could be argued as being less appealing, you can’t deny it looks like a slot you would see in real life. Even the sounds it makes as you play are authentic, meaning it becomes quite easy to forget your surroundings and feel as if you’re in a casino far removed from your home.

When a win falls into your lap, the symbols list on the left hand side will become active and flash up which icons have given you what rewards, a handy tool that is great for those still getting to grips with the full dynamics of slots.

Coins and Lines

Despite there being 5 paylines, you can opt for as few as 1 if you so wish, though the amount of times you win will be greatly reduced as there’s less room to manoeuver upon the matrix. As for setting the amount, there is a toggle marked ‘select lines’ underneath the reels, all you need to do is click it and the total will go up. It’s nice and simple.

Speaking of which, so too is the betting range: gamers can begin with 0.01 and work their way up to 5.00 credits, and they can also determine how many coins will be placed on each of the lines. To keep an eye on the amount of your stake, users will note a total bet indicator beside the large spin button, which will always keep you aware of what is going out of your account.

There is a max bet feature, but we’ll doubt you’ll use it as inputting the information yourself is super quick and easy. In regards to the Autoplay option, only real money players will be able to utilise it, meaning those experiencing the demo mode won’t get the full effect of every aspect of the gameplay. Not that it really matters, for it’s pretty self-explanatory what the option does.

MegaWins or Mega Loss?

Terrible jokes aside, this title from Rival Gaming is more miss than it is hit, mainly because it all feels rather unpolished. The barebones of a good slot machine are there, but it feels like the brand never fully executed it, mistaking retro with dull and lifeless. If you can look past those obvious flaws however, you can savour a small but decent 1,500 jackpot which nobody can grumble at. All in all, it’s an average Joe.
