Ricardo’s Casino Review

When you’re looking for an online casino, chances are that you have a few qualities you’re most interested in. For some, game selection is king, while others are interested in the size of the bonus they can get. Still others concern themselves with the customer support and trustworthiness of a site above all else.

When we recommend an Internet gambling site to our readers, we hope to see all of those factors, of course. But it’s always refreshing when an operator can show us just a little bit more. Ricardo’s Casino is a great example. Sure, it has games from a well-respected software provider, has a big bonus for new players, and is quite well-managed on the back end of things. But more than that, the site just exudes a sense of style – and while that’s not something everyone will care about, it’s a nice touch that they’re hoping will set them apart from the crowd.

Rival Collection Includes I-Slots

While many sites today offer games from a variety of developers, Ricardo’s has instead done things the old fashioned way, finding one company to supply them with all of their games. In this case, the provider is Rival Gaming, one of the more interesting developers currently working in the industry. While Rival is hardly the biggest name in the business, they have definitely created some of the best games we’ve seen anywhere online, and they’ve made a real effort to make their games stand out through innovation and experimentation.

This is best seen in their slots collection, and in particular, in the i-Slots line. These games offer up a number of different features that are rarely (if ever) seen in games designed by other companies, all of which are designed to make the machines more fun to play than your typical slot. For instance, many of these games are designed with full stories that you can discover as you play. Finish up a certain number of spins, unlock a special round, or win a particular prize, and you’ll see the next scene in whatever tale is being told. You’ll also find more than a few games (both in the i-Slots series and elsewhere) that include skill based elements, meaning you can actually influence how much you win based on how well you do in a mini-game.

This collection features enough variety that we think everyone can find something they like here, from classic three-reel games to video slots and plenty of progressive jackpots. A few of our favorites are:

• Hole in Won: The Back Nine

• Cosmic Quest

• Sherwood Forest Fortunes

• Reel Crime

• Golden Man

• Leonardo’s Loot

• Scary Rich

• Major Moolah

• Strike Gold

• Global Cup Soccer

Impressive Game Selection

One of the hallmarks of Rival is their ability to deliver a complete casino to site owners in one package. That includes not only slots, but also a complete suite of games, including table favorites, video poker, and some specialty games.

The table games selection is not the largest in the world, but it contains a dozen different games, enough to cover all the classics and a few other popular choices. Each of these games looks beautiful, accurately and faithfully recreating the action you would find in a real world resort. The games on tap include:

• American Roulette

• European Roulette

• Baccarat

• Blackjack

• Craps

• Three Card Poker

• Pai Gow Poker

• Red Dog

• Casino Battle (Casino War)

• Ride ‘em Poker (Let It Ride)

Even smaller is the video poker area, which includes just seven machines. Still, the games themselves are well-designed, being both easy on the eyes and simple to play. Plus, we suspect that most fans of video poker will be happy with what’s here, as it covers most of the most popular titles, even if you won’t find anything too exotic mixed in. You can play any of the following machines:

• Aces and Faces

• Deuces and Joker

• Deuces Wild

• Jacks or Better

• Double Joker

• Joker Poker

• Tens or Better

Finally, the specialty section offers up about what you’d expect: a smattering of other games designed to fill out the casino. Most of these are rather casual in nature, such as keno, some bingo-based titles, and a number of scratch cards. There’s also an electronic version of Sudoku, which translates the puzzle game into an instant win format.

New Player Promotions

There are a couple of different offers at Ricardo’s designed to get new players a little extra action for their money. In fact, you don’t necessarily even have to make a deposit in order to get your first bonus. There is a No Deposit Bonus that offers you $7 (or seven units of whatever currency you are playing in) just for opening up a real money account. Like most free promotions, you won’t be able to win an unlimited amount of money off of this: the maximum withdrawal is just 7x (or $49), and the bonus itself is not cashable. You’ll also need to meet a 60x wagering requirement before you make any withdrawals, and several table games cannot be played while you are clearing the promotion, including baccarat, roulette, and craps.

If that isn’t enough to satisfy your appetite, you can also receive a 400% matching bonus of up to $2,000 on your first deposit. While this is a large match, we have to say that this deal may not be for everyone: once again, the promotional funds are not cashable, and you’ll have to meet a 35x playthrough requirement on the combined deposit and bonus amount in order to withdraw your winnings. Perhaps worst of all, there is a maximum withdrawal on this promotion of just 3x that same total amount, which does put a cap on what you can win (albeit not a low one: on a $500 deposit, for instance, you could still cash out $7,500). The same games are prohibited, with a complete list of games that cannot be played available on the Ricardo’s website.

If you finish that 400% match, or you decide not to take it at all (perhaps because of the terms attached to it), you can also receive 100 free spins in the casino as an extra benefit. Once again, the terms are not great: there’s a 60x wagering requirement, and you can only withdraw up to the bonus amount (which is $100, as each free spin will be for $1).

Making Deposits and Withdrawals

The banking systems available here are reliable and fast, and there are a reasonable number of options for players to choose from. When it comes to depositing, most of the major options are covered, though we were a bit surprised not to see a direct bank transfer options available. Your deposit options will include:

• Visa

• MasterCard

• Neteller

• Skrill

• UseMyFunds

• EcoPayz

• Ukash

• PaySafeCard

Withdrawals are slightly more limited, as several of the above methods are only available for deposits. On the bright side, you can expect pretty fast cash outs compared to the industry average, with processing times being well under a week. Potential ways to receive your winnings may include:

Full Range of Software Options

No matter how you like to play your games, Ricardo’s has you covered, with the full variety of software platforms being utilized here. While we know they are no longer the most popular option, we appreciated the inclusion of a downloadable client that could be installed on a computer. There are still many players who enjoy having games right on their desktop, and while this software is mainly designed for Windows users, it is possible to work around this on Mac and Linux machines.

The instant play version of the client is likely to be more popular, as it allows anyone to simply visit the website and play games immediately. It doesn’t matter what sort of computer you are playing on; just point your web browser at the site, log into your account, and you’ll be able to start gambling for real money.

Finally, there’s also a mobile version of the software that allows you to play many of the same titles on your phone or tablet. This functions somewhat like an instant play platform: you can log in using Safari (on an Apple device) or Google Chrome (on Android or anywhere else you’ve installed it), enjoying a limited version of the Rival collection right on your mobile device. You can play for real money or in practice mode, and there’s even a “lite mode” that reduces loading times in case you have a less reliable connection (or simply want to use less data).

Great Package, But Bonuses Disappoint

Overall, Ricardo’s has an excellent casino package to deliver to players. You can’t go wrong by relying on Rival to supply the games, and the entire casino looks beautiful, thanks both to the software provider and the stylish touches the site owners have used to make their operation look truly unique. The banking system is solid, customer support is good, and everything related to the playing experience is truly top-notch.

The one disappointment comes when looking at the bonuses offered here. The fact that there are withdrawal limits at all is disappointing, but the fact that they are so low is what really caught our eye, since it limits how much you can win if you were to hit a lucky spin while clearing these promotions. This isn’t the biggest issue in the world – these days, such clauses have become more common – but we still aren’t happy when we see them.

While that’s definitely a negative, it isn’t enough to make this a bad casino by any stretch of the imagination. If your main motivation for signing up for a new gambling site is to chase bonuses, we can’t recommend Ricardo’s, but if you’re instead looking for a casino with good games, a sense of style, and plenty of options all around, you’ll be happy playing here.
