Platincasino Review

Every country has its own web-based casinos that speak its language, and for the Germans that casino is Platincasino. The site, which is available in 3 languages, is set to German by default. It’s not the slickest virtual casino ever designed, but it’s no eyesore either.

A full width slider bigs up the various benefits of playing at the German casino, benefits that include a range of welcome bonuses and an After Work Bonus that provides a suitable incentive to clock out early and head for home, or wherever it is you like to gamble.

About Platincasino

The site was founded in 2012 by a team who already had extensive industry experience between them. Platincasino states that it works exclusively with top gaming software companies, ensuring that all of its games are rendered in HD. Developers such as Merkur have provided the games that will keep the casino’s members engaged and coming back for more. All of the games featured on the site can be played for fun or for real money.

Getting Started

The games at Platincasino are designed to work in-browser, with no downloadable software required. Create an account, sign in, make a deposit and get started. Should you require any assistance, customer support is available from 9am to 12pm in the form of email and live chat. There’s also an FAQ that details deposits, withdrawals, game rules and suchlike.

One section that does appear to be missing is banking, though it’s evident that payment options include MasterCard, Visa, Sofort, GiroPay, Paysafecard, Skrill, Ukash, DotPay and Neteller.

Welcome Promotions

The promotions page at Platincasino is loaded with welcome bonuses that should appeal to new players. Unfortunately the page doesn’t load particularly well as Platincasino’s formatting could use some work. Introducing the site’s welcome bonuses is Jack, the site’s mascot, who appears as a medieval knight-cum-jester, clad in chainmail from hat to toe.

Deposit €10 with the casino and you’ll receive a 50% bonus. Deposit €35 and you’ll receive a 100% bonus and deposit over €78 and you’ll receive some sort of additional bonus, the exact details of which are uncertain because the promotions page doesn’t load properly.

Once you’ve signed up and claimed the introductory bonus, there are also some other bonuses to collect on a weekly basis. Jack’s After Work Bonus will surface “on an unpredictable date” between 6pm and 12am within a given month. Apparently you’ll be “surprised” when this happens, pleasantly one must assume, with some sort of deposit match or other offer; Platincasino isn’t forthcoming about the precise details. It’s all part of the surprise.

Other promotions are seasonal, but look out for cashback deals that will provide up to 20% back on all losses, to a maximum value of €150, and similar deals.

Slots Heavy

The casino favours a slots-heavy design, with games sorted according to popularity or developer – Merkur, Bally Wulff or Blueprint. There’s also a separate page for jackpot games. Games that are “New” or “Hot” are denoted as such by a green or red strip across the uppermost corner of their thumbnail.

Recent additions to the site include Mystic Force, Magic Book 6, Big Buck Bunny and Six & More. Platincasino is essentially a slots website.

There are some other games to be played too, but if you aren’t a fan of slots, you certainly won’t be a fan of this reel-heavy casino.

Merkur Games

Merkur is the main developer whose wares feature at Platincasino. They’re all slots, with eclectic themes and graphics that can best be described as fair to middling. On the one hand, you’re unlikely to see these games surfacing at a lot of other casinos; on the other hand, this speaks volumes about their merits.

Chase down outlaws in Badlands Bounty, follow the footsteps of the world’s most famous detective in 221B Baker Street and take it back to Roman times in Centurio. Diamonds and gems are a recurring theme, cropping up in such offerings as Diamond Casino, Diamond & Fruits, Double Triple Chance and Cash Plus Fruits.

Merkur games can be filtered according to the number of lines, ranging from just 1 payline all the way up to 50. Other filters allow players to select only games with wild symbols and only games that are mobile optimised. As it stands, around one third of Merkur games are available for mobile users.

Unfortunately these comprise the less attractive and less feature-rich games. Put it this way, Race to Win, sumer 7 Reels and Pyramids of Egypt aren’t going to win any design awards, but at least you can play them on your smartphone, and in the event of you scooping the jackpot, it’d be fair to say the low-key graphics won’t concern you in the slightest.

Bally Wulff Games

Bally Wulff is another of the developers whose slots feature prominently at Platincasino. Theirs are more fantasy-oriented, inspired by adventures whose overarching themes are romance, intrigue, peril and heroism. Try your luck at Book of Romeo & Juliet or peer into the future as you play Crystal Ball. Be like Ali Baba and his cohorts in 40 Thieves and prepare your steed in the Mongol-influenced Horsemen.

Other fantasy-fuelled games from Bally Wullf include Queen of the North, Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn, Texas Tycoon and Ramses Book. These games ain’t subtle, but they’re pretty fun to play, for their sheer kitsch and comedy value if nothing else.

Blueprint Games

Blueprint is the final developer to be found at Platincasino. Again, their games are mostly on a fantasy tip, but this time they look much more respectable graphically, even if the selection is narrower. Grecian romp Fortunes of Sparta is accompanied by the lurid Genie Jackpots and the obligatory Candy Crush rip-off Jewel Strike.

Jungle Strike is inspired of course by Jungle Book, while Wish Upon a Jackpot combines all your favourite fairy tales into one rip-roaring adventure.

Other Games

The other games at Platincasino – i.e those that aren’t slots – are hidden away, and may not be immediately apparent upon first glance. They’re there though, even if there’s a suggestion that they may have been added as an afterthought.

Blackjack constitutes many of the games to be found here, including European and Lucky Pair variants. There’s also baccarat, French Roulette, Sic Bo, Tropical Stud Poker and craps.

It’s odd that there aren’t any video poker games, but then there are a lot of omissions at Platincasino.

Platincasino in a Nutshell

Platincasino is less of a casino and more of a slots website. If you’re German and obsessed with slots then the site might appeal. Everyone else would be advised to get their kicks elsewhere. Even as a standalone slots website, in truth, Platincasino is mediocre. Fans of hard-to-find games will be happy, but others will be left questioning the shoddy graphics of many of the featured games.

There are some unusual promotions, which Platincasino deserves a measure of credit for, but there’s not much else to recommend about this odd German casino.
